ALTIS Named the Official Education Partner of Universal Speed Rating
Former Salesforce and Informatica executive brings leadership in data management, analytics, and AI to accelerate USR’s speed-development mission.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., October 28, 2026 — Universal Speed Rating (USR), the company building a trusted standard for measuring and developing speed, today announced that John Schweitzer has been named Executive Chairman. USR also announces its newly formed Board of Directors.
Schweitzer has advised USR since 2022. As Executive Chairman, he will lead the board and partner with the founding team on strategy, capital, and partnerships that expand adoption among coaches and athletes. He brings more than 30 years of enterprise technology leadership. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President, Sales at Salesforce, leading global sales for the Informatica business. Previously, he was Chief Revenue Officer at Informatica and Software AG, and held senior leadership positions at Workday, SAP and Oracle. He also serves on the Board of Directors of CCC Intelligent Solutions (NASDAQ: CCC). Two of Schweitzer’s three sons are also Division 1 football players which furthers his passion for sports performance.
Across these roles, Schweitzer has helped organizations unlock the value of data management, analytics, machine learning and AI to improve decisions and scale businesses, experience directly relevant to USR’s next chapter.
USR is focused on speed development, not generic athletic performance measurement. Its USR Verified Score draws on speed and contributing attributes, including power, acceleration, agility and explosiveness. The approach is grounded in the expertise of co-founder Les Spellman and the Speed Science Institute.
In September 2026, USR launched AI-powered video analysis backed by an algorithm. This fall, USR launched video analysis. It turns a phone video of a sprint into a picture of how an athlete runs. It is the foundation for AI-powered, personalized training. Elite and youth coaches have responded strongly. USR believes it will democratize speed training. Coaches at every level will be able to diagnose athletes and prescribe their programs.
“John has built and led exceptional technology organizations, and he understands the power of trusted data and AI,” said Todd Buchner, Co-Founder and CEO of Universal Speed Rating. “His experience will help us scale what makes USR distinctive: Les Spellman’s speed expertise, our verified measurement approach and technology that gives coaches more actionable insight into how to make athletes faster.”
“I’ve spent much of my career helping organizations harness the power of data, analytics and AI to make better decisions and drive better outcomes,” said John Schweitzer. “USR has a rare combination: Les Spellman’s world-class speed vision and experience, market vision from the Speed Science Institute, led by Dr. Ken Clark. We’re not simply measuring how fast an athlete is. We’re helping coaches understand the factors that drive speed, identify what an athlete needs to improve and personalize the path to getting faster. I’m excited to work with this team to scale that opportunity.”
